Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia of the Indian Administrative Service has taken over as Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry in place of Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh after his appointment as OSD in the Department of Defence. Prior to this, he was serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
He is a 1993 batch Indian Administrative Service officer. In the Central Government, he has held several important positions in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. In the State Government, he has handled departments such as Planning and Coordination, Health and Family Welfare, Environment and Forests, Municipalities and Local Self Government and Home.
