The central government has made a big announcement for senior citizens on Wednesday. The government said that now senior citizens above 70 years of age will be given insurance cover under ‘Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’. About 4.5 crore families will be covered under the scheme
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that about 4.5 crore families will be covered under this scheme. Which includes six crore senior citizens. Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana will issue a new card to senior citizens of 70 years and above. Under the scheme, senior citizens who are 70 years of age or above and who are from families already covered under the scheme will get additional insurance cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per year. This additional insurance cover will not apply to citizens below 70 years of age.
