India Successfully Test VL-SRSAM

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy have successfully conducted a flight test of the indigenously developed Vertically-Launched Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VL-SRSAM). The test was carried out from an Indian Navy warship, demonstrating its operational readiness and capability to intercept aerial threats at close ranges.

The VL-SRSAM is designed for naval warships to provide quick-reaction air defense against hostile aircraft, drones, and sea-skimming missiles. The missile features advanced technologies, including an active radar seeker, thrust vectoring, and canisterized launch system for efficient storage and deployment.

This successful test strengthens India’s self-reliance in defense technology and enhances the Indian Navy’s ability to counter emerging aerial threats, reinforcing maritime security.
