DGT & Shell India Roll Out Green EV Training

DGT & Shell India Roll Out Green EV Training

The Directorate General of Training (DGT), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has partnered with Shell India to launch a Green Skills-focused Electric Vehicle (EV) training programme aimed at equipping Indian youth with future-ready skills.

The initiative, part of the Skills4Future programme, will be rolled out across five states—Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. It features a 240-hour advanced EV technician course at National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs), a 90-hour job-oriented EV course at select Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), and a 50-hour green skills module for others.

The programme also includes infrastructure upgrades, dedicated EV labs, and joint certification by DGT and Shell. Over 250 trainers will be upskilled to deliver industry-relevant content, including EV systems, battery management, diagnostics, and safety protocols.

Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary said the initiative will boost green mobility and employment opportunities, while Shell India Chairperson Mansi Madan Tripathy emphasized the programme’s role in building a lower-carbon future.

This effort aligns with India’s net-zero goals and growing demand for skilled professionals in the green economy.
