Union Minister for AYUSH and Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal launched four major initiatives to promote AYUSH sector in North-East India. He inaugurated the North Eastern Region's first dedicated Panchakarma Block at the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) here today and dedicated it to the nation. The AYUSH Minister also inaugurated and dedicated to the nation the first state-of-the-art Pharmacology and Biochemistry laboratories for AYUSH in the North Eastern region.

He also laid the foundation stone of the permanent campus of the Regional Research Institute of Homeopathy (RRIH) along with the Integrated AYUSH Wellness Center to be built at Azara in the city. The Integrated AYUSH Wellness Center is the first of its kind in the country.

He said that given the proven results of our rich healing systems like Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy, Naturopathy and Sowa Rigpa, it is important that their age-old treatments be incorporated into modern medical practice. This will result in a powerful integrative medicine that will heal physical ailments and lead to mental well-being. Steps like the new Panchakarma block as well as state-of-the-art laboratories for AYUSH will enable AYUSH healthcare delivery system in the region, particularly benefitting the people of Assam and North-East.

The new campus of Regional Research Institute of Homeopathy (RRIH) is spread over an area of 18,610 square feet. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 53.89 crore, the project is planned to be completed by 2026. The new complex will be equipped with a 50-bed IPD unit and OPD services with specialized clinics. Clinical laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, emergency units as well as small operation theaters will also be part of the new complex.

India's first integrated AYUSH wellness center will have treatment and OPD facilities in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. This center will also provide Panchakarma, Naturopathy, Unani and Siddha medicine for the benefit of the people. A herbal garden will also be built in the centre.
