Union Minister of State for IT & Electronics, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Jal Shakti, Shri Rajiv Chandrashekhar inaugurated India's first FutureLabs Center at C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram yesterday. Named 'Center for Semiconductor Chips and Systems for Strategic Electronics', this center will play an important role in fostering an ecosystem for next generation chip design, manufacturing and research.

Other announcements include announcement of collaboration between C-DAC (T) and Ministry of Railways for development of electric locomotive technology. Additionally, an MoU was signed between C-DAC (T) and Tata Power for development and use of microgrid technology. Transfer of technology of Electric Vehicle Wireless Charger developed by C-DAC(T) and VNIT Nagpur to Belrise Industries Limited was also announced.

Mr. Manoj Gupta, CEO, TP Renewable Microgrid Limited, said, 'The collaboration between Tata Power and C-DAC is a historic moment. As an organization we have set up micro grids that are powered by solar energy along with battery technology. These recently installed micro grids have empowered 200 villages in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. We will continue this in Kerala also. Through this partnership we will be able to harness the power of microgrids.

Ms. Meenakshi Singh, Director, JMV LPS Limited said, 'This wonderful work and determination of the Minister towards Digital India and entrepreneurship has boosted the morale of many companies towards self-reliance and technology. JMV in collaboration with C-DAC and Indian Railways has achieved a significant milestone – a three-part indigenous locomotive propulsion system. This indigenous technology of locomotive propulsion system not only reflects our commitment towards innovation but also positions India as a global player in the field of railway propulsion systems. Additionally, we are contributing to modernizing the maintenance and operations of Railways through an AI based predictive maintenance system indigenously designed, developed and manufactured for Railways.
