Rapido, India's premier bike taxi platform, is pioneering a transformative shift in the gig workforce landscape. The platform is thrilled to mark a momentous achievement, having registered more than 2,000 women bike captains in Hyderabad, hailing from diverse and challenging backgrounds. In the past three months, over 250 women bike captains have been actively contributing to Rapido's services in Hyderabad, collectively completing over 8,000 rides.

The majority of women bike riders hail from prominent areas such as Uppal, Kuntloor, Begumpet, Charminar, Old City, and other key regions. Nearly 80% of them are part-timers, juggling multiple roles like housekeeping alongside their Rapido commitments. This economic empowerment is pivotal in nurturing their financial independence and fostering a work-life balance that was previously elusive. However, the Company aims to on-board more than 3000+ women captains in the next 6 months.

Safety remains paramount for Rapido, and this extends to its women captains. Rapido provides women captains with safety gear, including T-shirts, aprons, and two helmets, ensuring secure and comfortable rides for passengers and captains alike. Rapido goes even further, offering round-the-clock support through a dedicated helpline and a WhatsApp support group, guaranteeing that assistance is just a message away.

PavanGuntupalli, Co-founder of Rapido, expressed his vision about Rapido's role in driving the transformation amongst gig workers, “In a fast-evolving gig economy, we recognize the pivotal role that women play as change-makers and economic contributors. Rapido is not just a platform; it's an agent for transformation. We celebrate our 2000+ women bike captains in Hyderabad, who exemplify the resilience and potential of women in the gig workforce. By strengthening women in the gig economy, we are reinforcing Rapido's commitment to creating equal opportunities. The success of these women bike captains is not just an organizational achievement but a testament to our unwavering dedication to women's empowerment and the building of a more inclusive gig workforce for all.”

One significant initiative that underscores Rapido's commitment to its women captains is the facilitation of driving license acquisition. For those without a license, Rapido collaborates with third-party driving schools and trainers to help these women obtain the necessary licenses.

Moreover, Rapido is addressing the transportation hurdles faced by women without personal vehicles. Through strategic partnerships with two-wheeler EV companies such as Bijliride, the platform is supporting women captains in Hyderabad by offering electric vehicles for rent. Rapido's vision is to pave the way for a future where women play an equal role in India's gig economy, ensuring a level playing field for everyone.
