Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit Takes Charge as IAF Vice Chief

Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, PVSM, AVSM, VM, VSM, assumed charge as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff (VCAS) of the Indian Air Force on Thursday.

 

A distinguished fighter pilot with extensive operational and command experience, Air Marshal Dixit was commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in December 1986. During his illustrious career spanning nearly four decades, he has flown a wide range of combat aircraft and accumulated over 3,300 hours of flying experience.

 

An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, and National Defence College, the Air Marshal has held several key command, staff, and instructional appointments. He has commanded a frontline fighter squadron, a premier air base, and operational formations, besides serving in important appointments at Air Headquarters.

 

Prior to assuming the appointment of Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Dixit served as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Central Air Command, where he oversaw operational preparedness and capability enhancement across the command.

 

In recognition of his distinguished service, he has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), Vayu Sena Medal (VM), and Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM).

 

As the new Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit will play a key role in strengthening the Indian Air Force’s operational readiness, capability development, and ongoing modernisation initiatives.
