Rajasthan Gets 2.89 Lakh New Pucca Houses Under PMAY-G

In a major boost to rural housing, Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan handed over approval for 2,89,355 pucca houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) in Rajasthan. The housing approvals involve a total financial outlay of ₹3,473 crore and are aimed at providing permanent homes to rural families across the state.

The approval was handed over to Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma during a state-level PMAY-G programme in Baran.

The Centre has also completed a survey of 29,13,749 potential beneficiaries under PMAY-G in Rajasthan. Eligible families will be identified after physical verification, with additional houses to be sanctioned accordingly. The government has stressed transparency in the selection process. Beneficiary lists will be displayed at district and panchayat levels, while eligible families will have an opportunity to raise objections.

PMAY-G Eligibility Norms Expanded

In a significant move to widen the scheme’s coverage, the government has revised certain eligibility criteria under PMAY-G. Families owning a two-wheeler can now also qualify for housing assistance. The monthly income ceiling for women beneficiaries has been increased from ₹10,000 to ₹15,000.

Small farmers owning up to five acres of unirrigated land or 2.5 acres of irrigated land will also be eligible under the revised provisions.

Additional ₹340.59 Crore for Agriculture

During the programme, an approval of ₹340.59 crore was also announced for agricultural development initiatives under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY). The government said the combined focus on rural housing, agriculture and women’s empowerment will help strengthen Rajasthan’s rural economy and improve living standards.

The latest PMAY-G approvals represent a major step towards providing secure and dignified housing to rural families, while expanding the reach of welfare schemes to more eligible beneficiaries across Rajasthan.
