Government Revives Long-Pending Qadian-Beas Railway Project

Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu has announced the revival of the historic Qadian–Beas Railway Line project, bringing back to life a railway proposal that had remained dormant for nearly a century.

The railway line, originally conceived during the pre-Independence era, is expected to significantly improve rail connectivity between Qadian and Beas in Punjab. The project aims to enhance passenger convenience, facilitate the movement of goods, and provide a boost to regional economic development.

According to the Minister, the revived rail link will strengthen transport infrastructure, improve access to educational, religious, and commercial centres, and generate new employment opportunities during both construction and operation.

The project reflects the Government’s commitment to expanding railway infrastructure, improving last-mile connectivity, and ensuring balanced regional development. Once completed, the Qadian–Beas railway line is expected to benefit residents, businesses, and pilgrims while contributing to Punjab’s overall socio-economic growth.
